Your Library Card

Who Can Get a Card

Anyone residing in Salado or a surrounding community may obtain a free library card by providing proof of current address.  Parents must sign for children under 14.  There is a $1.00 charge to replace a lost library card.

Borrowing Limits

A patron is allowed to borrow ten items at a time, two of which may be videos and two may be DVDs.  New books may be borrowed for two weeks with no renewal.  All other books may be borrowed for three weeks; videos and DVDs for one week.  These items are renewable once if another patron has not reserved them.  Parents are responsible for materials borrowed by children under the age of sixteen

Placing Holds

A Patron is allowed to place 10 holds on library materials.  Holds may be placed by phone, in person on or the web site.  The library will contact you by phone or email when the requested item is ready to be picked up.  Reserves are held at the front desk for one week.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items

Materials may be renewed by phone, on the library web site or at the library.

Library Fines

The library charges 5¢ per day for overdue books and audio books and 25¢ per day for overdue movies.  There is an outdoor book drop near the library parking lot for the return of books;  however audio and video materials must be returned inside at the library circulation desk.  The borrower must pay for or replace all damaged or lost materials.   Anyone owing over $5.00 in fines or who has fines over 90 days old may not check out any additional materials until all fines are cleared.

TexShare Card

After you have been a member of the Salado Public Library for three months, and your record is free of fines and fees, you are eligible to receive a TexShare card, which gives you borrowing privileges at many public and academic libraries in Texas.  Nearby libraries that participate in this program include Temple Public Library, the Lena Armstrong Public Library in Belton, Southwestern University, Georgetown Public Library, Round Rock Public Library, and UT-Austin.  Your TexShare card must be renewed annually.  Ask at the circulation desk for more information.
