Volunteering
Volunteers are the heart and soul of our Library. If you enjoy books, computers and people you'll like working at the library as a volunteer. We have lots of opportunities for folks who range in age from 13 to 80-something.
Opportunities include:
- Assisting with children's activities
- Building maintenance
- Sorting and selling books in the Bookends, the Friends book store
- Serving on a Friends committee or the Friends Board of Directors
- Contributing baked goods for events
- Working on publicity, marketing and outreach
- Sharing an art or craft with the Adult Crafts group
- Serving on the Book Selection Committee
- Processing books
- Shelving books
Call the library, download an application for adult volunteers or teen volunteers, or e-mail the library at splstaffcal@gmail.com.
Donations
Donations of books, movies and recent magazines in good condition are gratefully accepted. Those items not added to the library collection will be sold in Bookends, the Friends of the Library book store.
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Salado Public Library is a 501 (c) 3 organization created to support the library. The Friends are a forward-looking group of supporters who volunteer their time and talents in a variety of roles, who raise money through used book sales and acquisition of grants, and who encourage greater use of the Library’s resources and programs. Additionally, the Friends serve as advocates for the library as the library continues to serve the Salado community. All members of the community are welcome to join (there are no dues). An application form is available here or at the library.
The Friends of the Salado Public Library recruit volunteers, operate the Bookends Book Store, conduct programs and fundraisers and support the library in other ways as needed.
Membership in the Friends is free!
Some of the Friends activities and programs include:
- Death by Chocolate
- Guest speakers
- Help with the Summer Reading Program
- Used Book Sales
